SB Food Not Lawns is a community group dedicated to turning yards into gardens and neighborhoods into communities by encouraging people to grow and share food. This website is an extension of the Neighborhood Exchanges and other SB Food Not Lawns hosted events. Keep the conversation going and our community growing! Join the growing SB Food Not Lawns community today! Share photos of your garden to inspire others, Or check out photos that others have posted to get inspired! Ask other gardeners in your area questions. Find out when and where the next Exchange is happening in your neighborhood. Planning a garden work party? Add it to the list of events. Share ideas for how Santa Barbara can become a more resilient community. Share recipes for using all that great produce you picked up at the last exchange, or read recipes that others have posted and try something new. Request a sign ($10) to display your pride in your garden and your support for the SB Food Not Lawns community. Read tips for how to start your own Exchange. How you can get involved: Download Fliers and post them to help organizers get the word out about events. Share what SB Food Not Lawns is doing with co-workers, friends, family, even strangers. Invite others to Exchanges. Invite others to join this site. Plant a garden. In your yard, in a willing neighbors yard, in a parkway, in a vacant lot, where ever you would like to see a garden. Add fruit bearing trees that are growing on public property to the Map. Plan a garden event and invite others to come by adding to the list of events. Building a raised bed, planting a tree, a harvest party, etc. |
